Starting from last year’s semester of study, the Museum of Asian Arts has received several groups of students who are interested in choosing this museum to undertake volunteer work. The students are from various fields including the Faculty of Economics and Business, Law and the Academy of Malay Studies.

The museum understands that Volunteerism (GKS 1001) is a new subject offered by the HEP, where every student who follows it has to undergo volunteer work in any organization or the like.

For this first intake, the museum has assigned several tasks to the group to help launch the work of the museum and indirectly also reveal to students how a museum works and feel the real field. For safety purposes each group is limited to a few students only.

Volunteers are doing measurements and condition reports of the limar fabric collection

The students are divided into collection conservation tasks such as; stock checking provides condition reports on textile collections, Malay ceramic and ethnographic collections, marketing and promotion groups through social media as well as organizing activities or exhibitions.

Among the findings, the museum was able to update the limar type textiles which amounted to 63 sheets which consisted of several types such as limar bersongket, tenggarun, berayat and limar biasa.
