The earliest Dehuan porcelain originated from the North Song era but the 17th and 18th centuries witnessed the best quality of the Dehuan porcelain ever produced. Production of spiritual images such as this Guanyin image started around this period and the Caishen or the God of Wealth dates back to about 1610. The fine Guanyin images uses cream colored glaze and the body base is made of white kaolin. Image style – Maharajalilasana or tranquility is one of the 33 manifestations in the Lotus Sutra.
