International Museum Day celebrated by every museum around the world on 18 May each year is the result of a resolution of the 12th International Council of Museums Conference by ICOM (International Council of Museums) in 1977. However for local museums, all museums established by the Federal Government and the Government The state will be under ICOMMAL. This celebration was held from 19 to 25 June 2022 and this time, Kelantan State Museum acted as the host and location of the celebration at Dataran Warisan & Parkir 1, Sultan Muhammad Stadium, Kota Bharu Kelantan. The theme of this year’s celebration that was raised was The Power of Museums.
Museum of Asian Art Universiti Malaya will display the Museum's permanent collection, THE SUKHOTHAI AND SAWANKHALOK COLLECTION from the 15th Century Thai Sawankhalok era. The selection of these artifacts is in line with the theme of "The Power of Museums" set for the celebration of 2022. Sculptures of crockery from Sukhothai and Sawankhalok 14-16th century AD are among the important artifacts in the collection of the Museum of Asian Art. From the aspect of the development of commercial ceramic art in Asia, the products from Sukhothai Sawankhalok from Si Satchanalai province, Thailand, have an important history after Ban Chiang artifacts based on clay pottery to stoneware. Museum of Asian Art has 30 complete collections from the period and region. It contributes to the technological knowledge, cultural relations and economic sustainability of the Asian region. A total of 15 Sukhothai/Sawankhalok artifacts will be on display in conjunction with this celebration.
