Introduction to the 15th Anniversary Art Exhibition " Enjoy the 15th - Create the 15th years of Arts " of the Malaysian Artists Society

The Malaysian Artists Society is about to celebrate its glorious 15th anniversary. To commemorate this significant milestone, the Society will host a grand art exhibition—" Enjoin the 15th - Create the 15th years of Arts." This exhibition brings together the brilliant works of 70 artists and 82 artworks, divided into two sections: the Members' Exhibition and the International Artists Invitational Exhibition.

The Members' Exhibition will showcase 69 outstanding works from the 58 society's members. These pieces fully demonstrate the creative strength and style of Malaysian local artists, covering various artistic forms and styles. Each piece contains the artists' unique perspectives and deep emotions, reflecting their perseverance and exploration on the artistic path.

The International Artists Invitational Exhibition features 13 selected artworks by 12 renowned artists from nine countries and regions, including Singapore, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Australia. These works add an international perspective and rich artistic expression to the exhibition, showcasing the creative achievements of global artists from different cultural backgrounds. Through this part of the exhibition, visitors can appreciate not only the local artistic treasures but also the diversity and resonance of international art.

This exhibition is not only a summary and celebration of the Malaysian Artists Society's development over the past fifteen years but also a vision for the future artistic journey. The Society hopes that through such an artistic event, it can further promote local and international artistic exchanges, inspire more creativity and inspiration, and drive the prosperous development of Malaysia's art industry.

The " Enjoin the 15th - Create the 15th years of Arts " exhibition will be held from August 10 to 30, 2024, at the University of Malaya Library Exhibition Hall. The exhibition will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM from Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday. This exhibition is curated by Dr. Ding Yu Ming, Curatorial Director of AMJB (Aesthetics Museum of Johor Bahru), with the support and sponsorship of the Museum of Asian Art & Art Gallery, University Malaya.

In this exhibition, the Society will, for the first time, award two types of awards to its members to encourage and reward their efforts. A total of 32 members were nominated for these awards, with 25 receiving the Elite Award and 7 receiving the Lifetime Outstanding Award. These awards recognize the members' creative achievements and their significant contributions to the art industry.

This exhibition will be held in two locations: Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. The Kuala Lumpur exhibition primarily aims to encourage and acknowledge the members' hard work in building an aesthetic ecosystem, contributing alongside the Society for fifteen years. The Johor Bahru exhibition is designed to provide members with a memorable experience and also launch a special 15th anniversary publication, offering members an opportunity for an aesthetic journey. The theme " Enjoin the 15th - Create the 15th years of Arts " stems from this very motivation.

Additionally, the theme has a deeper meaning: the artists have been creating freely and growing with the Society for fifteen years. During these fifteen years, they have created beauty over time, capturing the beautiful moments of life in their works.

The " Enjoin the 15th - Create the 15th years of Arts " exhibition will be a feast of art, allowing every visitor to immerse themselves in the ocean of art and feel the charm and power of art.
